Donald Trump Faces Tough Night in Debate with Kamala Harris

Donald Trump’s 90-minute debate with Kamala Harris was a striking contrast to his earlier face-off with Joe Biden. While he initially maintained composure, it wasn’t long before he fell into Harris’ well-crafted traps. From questioning his crowd sizes to highlighting his strained relationships with military leaders and global figures, Harris skillfully guided the conversation, leaving Trump on the defensive. For anyone who had momentarily forgotten the tone of Trump’s presidency, this debate served as a sharp reminder.

As the debate wrapped up, even the Fox News panel appeared unsettled. Host Jesse Watters hesitantly admitted, “I don’t think the American people are watching and thinking any of these people won.” His acknowledgment that the debate had been “rough” and “intense” was a telling sign of the night’s gravity.

Fox News political analyst Brit Hume was more direct in his assessment, saying, “Make no mistake about it: Trump had a bad night.” He pointed out that Trump was repeatedly baited by Harris into revisiting past grievances, which only harmed his standing. Meanwhile, Hume praised Harris for her poise and preparation, noting that she “kept her cool” throughout the exchange.

When asked if Harris had a good night, Hume replied firmly, “She certainly did.”

Over at MSNBC, the reaction was starkly different. Chris Hayes was visibly excited, and Lawrence O’Donnell went so far as to call it the best debate performance in presidential history. The enthusiasm continued as Rachel Maddow joyfully announced Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Harris live on air, creating a celebratory atmosphere.
