“Deadly Terrorist Attack on Turkish Aerospace Company Leaves 4 Dead, 14 Injured”

A terrorist attack at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS), a major defense and aviation company near Turkey’s capital, Ankara, left at least four people dead and 14 injured on Wednesday. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed the attack, condemning it as a “heinous terror attack.” According to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, two attackers, a male and a female, were also killed. Yerlikaya mentioned that efforts were underway to identify the attackers, and of the 14 injured, three were reported to be in critical condition.

The attack, which has yet to be claimed by any group, reportedly involved gunfire and explosions. Turkish television broadcasted footage, also circulating on social media, showing gun-wielding assailants and smoke billowing from the facility, though these videos remain unverified. Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported that security forces, paramedics, and firefighters were deployed to the area, and personnel at the facility were directed to take shelter.

President Erdogan addressed the incident during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. He stated that the attack targeted “the peace of our nation” and vowed that Turkey’s fight against terrorism would continue with “unwavering determination.”

TUSAS, a state-owned defense company, is a key player in Turkey’s defense industry. It manufactures both military and civilian aircraft and produces unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) like the ANKA, a combat drone.

International condemnations followed swiftly, with the United States Embassy in Turkey and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte condemning the attack. Rutte, who spoke with Erdogan, expressed his solidarity with Turkey in his post on X.
